Social Networking on Steroids

Where do I start? I have a domain that has been set up as an article directory. It has been running for months, with people posting their articles to it. I have not made any money on it and spend an inordinate amount of time declining articles. So, I decided to make a change.
I looked around the internet for some kind of script that would fin the domain name. I was also looking to replace about 5 other sites but they would be more difficult because the domain names are "article" related. But I had one that I thought I could use for a social networking site.
Hunting around the net I found a piece of free software that looked like it would definitely serve the purpose. I was a bit reluctant as I had tried one of Boonex's other scripts and fought long and hard and failed to get it the way I wanted it.
But, I thought I would give Boonex Dolphin a try.
Downloaded and removed the files and database from my site. Uploaded the files and try to install it with no luck. I did some searching to find a solution and couldn’t figure out what the problem was. So, delete it all and upload it again.
This time the install worked with no problems at all. But, tweaking the site to my liking was still a way off. There is a steep learning curve, no manual and support that you have to pay for to get your site set up how you want it.
There is a support forum but you have to pay to search or post. So, I had to just plow through all of the posts to find the information I wanted. I also had to search item by item for free plug-ins and modifications to make my site better.
Most of the modifications are in the $10 - $50 range with few that are free. I held fast, and got the site the way I wanted it mainly searching online and bypassing the forum to find blog posts with solutions.
After working on the site for about one day, I got a better feel for how to make the changes to make the site look and feel like I wanted. The biggest problem is that Dolphin does so much.
You could say that Boonex Dolphin is a combination of MySpace, YouTube, FaceBook, and more all wrapped into one script. The site is a social community that allows a user to set up an account, blog, add events, upload music, videos, and pictures, post and search classifieds and more.
Dolphin is an all-inclusive community script with tons of features. It will just a little time for me to figure them all out.
