The Power of Good Communication

By : Digital Solutions

Some of the greatest accomplishments known to man have taken place merely from the fact that someone had an idea for change and communicated that idea in such a way that others were motivated to make it a realization. There are a number of factors that are involved in communicating effectively. Although it is important to express the ideas in a manner in which they will be understood, it is equally important to engage the listener's attention.

Communication involves more than just the words we say. It includes the tone of voice, facial expressions, body language etc. Have you ever spoken with someone who was trying to convince you of something yet was so unsure of it themselves that you could tell by the tone of their voice or their inability to look you straight in the eye? Or maybe you've met someone that no matter how benign their intentions, their tone of voice often sounds argumentative. These are just a few examples of ineffective communication.

The great leaders and motivational speakers know the importance of communication and employ it to affect individuals, nations and the world. When listening to a politician's speech, note the tone of their voice. They will often use forcefulness to incite the listeners to take action to vote for them. They may use a rhythmic, lulling speech pattern to create a sense of peace. Motivational speakers such as Anthony Robbins, Zig Ziglar and Stephen Covey create positive lasting change in people's lives by communicating to them the skills necessary and motivating them to take action to accomplish great personal achievement in every aspect of their lives.

The ability to create change and motivate others as well as yourself through good communication is not the realm of a few privileged individuals. Anyone can learn these skills and apply them to any or all areas of their life in order to accomplish their goals and help others reach theirs as well.
